Moab, Utah – Talk about wide open spaces! This city is adjacent to Zion National Park and the scenery here is truly out of this world. Don’t Watch 127 Hours before you go, though, to avoid being terrified to death.
Asheville, NC – If you live on the East Coast Asheville’s going to be a really centrally located spot. There are tons of small mountains to start with and the city’s pretty cool to explore when you’re done, too.
Fruita, Colorado – If it’s variety you’re looking for, look no further than Fruita. There are hundreds of miles of trails to explore and they’re all steeper than you’re used to.
Park City, Utah – Back to Utah! Park City’s trails are greener than most and they provide fantastic views of the surrounding mountains. The people are friendly here, too.
